The cortical membrane
is a thin layer of cortical bone made flexible thanks to a proprietary demineralization process.
As the other Osteoxenon devices
cortical membrane maintains the presence of native collagen, main feature of the advanced line.
cortical membrane maintains the presence of native collagen, main feature of the advanced line.
The advantage of this membrane
is the long protection time: histologics show it is still occlusive after 6 months from being grafted. Nonetheless it is totally remodelable, so there’s no need of a second surgery to remove it.
It is indicated
to protect all those grafts where regeneration is believed to occur slowly (bone walls lacking, large volume to be regenerated). Proper fixation is mandatory.
